Motorcycle Camp Trailers

June 5th, 2007 by Shenron

Motorcycle camp trailers are essentially mobile tents in a little trailer you can haul with your motorcycle. Camp Trailers come in all shapes and sizes, and they are all usually constructed out of a canvas material. Many have other storage in the trailers to hold thing you will need when you camp out, like a small gas grill, or let’s say a cooler to keep your many drinks warm in the cold or cold in the heat (depending on the time of year - although I do not know who would want to go out and camp in sub freezing temperatures with just a small canvas tent). They are usually very light and stable to haul, and many come with vents for small AC units to keep you cool - and beds too. Usually it is a simple foam mattress but it can also be an inflatable bed that has an automatic pump. Powering these usually requires a battery that is included, and can be charged by simply plugging it into an outlet or if you want - solar powered via photo electric cells that can be located on the top of your canvas mobile home. Motorcycle camp trailers have been around for many years, and have let many people enjoy the outdoors - if you are interested in buying one you should check out the local papers to see if one is on sale for a reasonable price - and hey, there’s always Ebay to look at.

The prices for these small camp trailers are usually between one thousand and six thousand dollars depending on what kind you decided on, and what features you will have, as many have a great amount to choose from. Heaters, A/Cs, even small gas ovens and porches made of canvas can be included in the entire set - and all of it can fit into a very small easy to haul trailer!

Antique Truck Trailers

June 5th, 2007 by Shenron

Antique Trailers are classified usually as being manufactured between 1900 and 1959, with the simple reasoning being that anything newer than that is more likely to be using less valuable materials and to be of a lesser quality - although usually not true.  Truly old and antique trailers for trucks come from the era when trucks themselves were new - and the capacity to tow anything behind them was a marvel considering how recent the technology of combining a combustion engine to a chassis capable of true towing was.   The earliest trailers were shoddily constructed with large wooden planks held together with nails, screws, and iron ties.  These ancient artifacts are seldom found and were usually hand made - factory made flat beds were most often wooden as well, although the frames were iron or steel and bolted fast.  Antique truck trailers can still be found in some old forgotten barns in places not touched by human hand in years usually at abandoned farms and grazing land.

Some of the more modern trailers that came about took from old wagons in the horse-drawn age, where they were sometimes literally just that - a horse-drawn wagon converted to be hauled by a car.  Others were modified with rubber tires and still had their canvas tops and sides for an “enclosed” trailer.  Laster on as technology progressed, mainly in the late twenties and thirties metal trailers became something new, and improved.  Some were liveable, becoming the first camping trailers, while others were for utilities.  The first uses of some of the more heavily armored trailers was for bank transport and prisoner transport - however the most common truck trailers were still flatbed or wooden railed.   If you are looking of antique trailers to match your old truck you will want to find one from the time period of the truck.  The newer your truck, the more likely you are to find a working trailer that needs less restoration work.

Double Boat and Motorcycle Trailers

June 5th, 2007 by Shenron

Double Boat trailers are pretty much a myth if you’re hauling large boats, however a solution is a double decker trailer that will allow you to haul two median sized boats, or if you are hauling one boat and a pair of seadoos.  It is a good bet that you’ll be paying extra and that the double decker trailers will be larger than most others you have hauled - and it may be necessary to check with your local area’s lawmaking body about needed permits and if they allow certain heights or widths for public transport of large boats.  You will also need to make sure it has a good breaking system - the weight you will be hauling could become a hazard if you are unable to stop - consider having the breaks compared and know their weight ratings and how well they perform at failure weight peaks(too much weight to stop).

Double Motorcycle Trailers are much easier to haul around, as they can either be long or they can be wide, with a capacity for two motorcycles.  You can find many of these available at good prices, and they should be pretty good quality.  You might consider getting a V shaped enclosed trailer to do the job since it is easy to load and unload the bikes.  When you are looking for a trailer here’s a few simple and logical tips to look out for.  One: make sure the electrical system and brake system (whether they’re surge or electrical) have been inspected and are working. Two: see if you can find out any history of the unit if it is used.  Three: Know your weight capacity of both the trailer and the towing vehicle - you wouldn’t want to be puttering up a hill barely able to go half the speed limit after all.

Wells Cargo Enclosed Snowmobile Trailers

June 5th, 2007 by Shenron

Wells Cargo has been around for many years and provides some of the best trailers for all needs - the ones we will be looking at are their snowmobile trailers.  There are three kinds offered and they all are capable trailers in their own right.

First lets take a look at their funWagon® Drive-Thru Snowmobile Trailer.  It has been a standard design of their for the past 25 years and it is the original trailer for snow mobiles transportation with drive on/off loading accessories and capabilities (allowing you to drive the vehicle right into the trailer, or right out of it) which make it easier on you to load and offload your items.  The trailer has double doors on both the front an rear allowing for full access, along with reinforced no-show beaver tails on the front and rear allowing you to load your snow mobile from either side.  It also comes with a portable loading ramp that can be used for loading or unloading, it has .030 aluminum exterior skin in 11 colors and a 20 year warranty on the pressure treated wooden floor, 1/4 inch plywood interior lining, a rubber torsion suspension and electric brakes.  It also has safety chains with hooks, and a wet cell battery for breakaway switches.

Now lets look at the funWagon® V-Front Snowmobile Trailer.  This design eliminates the need to jackknife the towing vehicle to load or unload and provides various lengths of trailers in a range from 15 to 29 feet.  It has a five foot long V-front section, 60 inch wide front ram door with a spring assist, and a 90 inch rear ramp door with a spring assist.  It also has the rear reinforced now show beaver tail and .030 aluminum exterior skin that also comes in 11 colors.  All of the other components are essentially the same as the Drive-Thru Wells Cargo enclosed snowmobile trailer.

Finally there is the funWagon® In-Line Snowmobile Trailer which is a sleek design to accommodate larger and wider snow mobiles.  The specs are essentially the same as the other two with the exception of choosing between a double front door and a front ramp door.  Wells Cargo enclosed snowmobile trailers are a testament to their companies’ ability to adapt to the needs of the consumer, and are superior in quality to off-brands.
