Through and through, you will generally be very impressed with what the LR2 comes with and it starts with a decent engine. The engine is a small, but not underpowered 3.2 liter I-6 engine that delivers more than enough horsepower- 230 HP for its size. The Land Rover LR3 – Off Road Comfort
December 30th, 2008 by Justin
If you are looking for a vehicle that offers off road capability, you can’t do much better than the Land Rover. The Land Rover has been the de facto standard for some of the harshest off roading climates in the world and while there are plenty of vehicles that come with all wheel drive or 4×4 capability, they are usually nothing technologically close to the Land Rover in capability, functionality and reliability. One of the vehicles that have definitely earned its name plate is the LR3. The Land Rover LR3 is a boxy vehicle, but definitely offers plenty of performance, the ability to go almost anywhere and a comfort level perfect for everyday driving.
The Land Rover LR3 Tech Specs
The Land Rover offers decent power, plenty of space, safety and off road capability in one vehicle. To start out, the LR3 offers a very decent 4.4 liter V8 engine that produces a healthy 300 horsepower. For those that have been tracking the LR3 this year’s model no longer offers the smaller and less powerful V6 engine. Matched to this engine is a six speed adaptive automatic transmission. This vehicle like all Land Rovers has full time all wheel drive and the added capability of an electronic air suspension, a very useful hill decent control and Land Rover’s ultimate Terrain Response system. No matter what obstacles your LR3 comes up against, with all the technology and engineering in the LR3, you should be able to overcome them with ease.
The LR3 seats 7 comfortably and offers a practical 3rd row that simply folds down for more space if needed. Add into the mix plenty of amenities and safety features and the LR3 is a great all around vehicle. The price for the LR3 ranges from about $44K to $54K.

The 2009 Range Rover Sport
December 30th, 2008 by Justin
For 4×4 enthusiasts looking for the ultimate in off roading, the Range Rover has always been one of the best available 4×4’s available. Add in plenty of extras and even with the luxury amenities this nameplate offers it is hard to find another 4×4 that is even on the same level as the Range Rover. For 2009, one of the best vehicles available from Range Rover is the Sport. While it does have a higher price tag- practically double than the Jeep and most SUV’s it is worth of consideration, especially if you are a hardcore off roader or looking for a very capable 4×4 vehicle with a top nameplate and luxury amenities.
Tech Specs of the 2009 Range Rover Sport
The Range Rover Sport offers plenty of off road performance with a sporty SUV design, it also offers the engineering and technology that has made the Land Rover perhaps the ultimate off road vehicle. The Range Rover offers seating for 4 and comes in a choice of two trim levels. They include the HSE and the Supercharged. The HSE is a very capable vehicle without being supercharged and offers a 4.4 liter V8 engine with a very peppy 300 horsepower.
If you are looking for ultimate power, the Supercharged trim is definitely the one to choose. This trim offers a smaller, but much more powerful 4.2 liter supercharged V8 engine that turns out a whopping 390 horsepower. Married to these engines are a six speed automatic transmission which includes the feature of CommandShift manual shift mode. The HSE and Supercharged trims also come with Terrain Response which is their spectacular off road enhancement feature and either 19 inch wheels for the HSE or 20 inch wheels for the Supercharged vehicle. Prices range from about $53K to $71K depending on trim and options.

The All Wheel Drive Cadillac SRX
December 30th, 2008 by Justin
While Acura and Infinity have both done well with their crossover SUV type vehicles, Cadillac has also picked up some steam with theirs. Cadillac is usually known for its larger SUV vehicles including its very bling Escalade, however there other less stated vehicles that not only offer true Cadillac comfort, but also plenty of utility and capability, the SRX is one of them. The Cadillac SRX is a mix between a minivan and the drivability of a comfortable sedan. Add in plenty utility of an SUV and you have the SRX. Yes, the SRX tries to be a lot of things to many different people, but in the end, it does look very nice and performs well and it still is a Cadillac.
Under the Hood of the Cadillac SRX
The SRX comes in two main flavors, a rear wheel drive and an all wheel drive configuration. It should be noted that the SRX offers up to 7 passenger seating with the 3rd row that many SUV’s and minivans now make available. There are two engines available for the SRX and while both are peppy and more than adequate, we definitely recommend the larger 4.6 liter Northstar V8 engine that comes with a 6 speed automatic transmission. The smaller engine is a 3.6 liter V6 that produces a perfectly capable 255 horsepower.
Plenty of Amenities and Safety Features
Like all minivans, the Cadillac SRX does feature plenty of safety features and stability trac modes. The vehicle comes also with 17 inch wheels and plenty of nice amenities such as leather seating, power liftgate, Xenon headlights and much, much more. The price for the SRX ranges from about $37K to $49K depending on style and features. The SRX is a crossover and yes, it is a little pricey, but it does offer plenty of luxury and a great name plate.

2009 GMC Canyon
December 29th, 2008 by Justin
While GMC is known for its mid size and larger, professional grade trucks, one vehicle that is getting noticed, especially by budget conscious customers is the GMC Canyon. The GMC Canyon is a budget friendly truck that comes in three basic models, a regular cab, extended cab and crew cab. Perfect for small businesses or for those that require power the Canyon offers plenty of options and several engines available- all of which are competent. In addition, 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive models are available. While not a star like the F 150 or Dodge Ram, the GMC Canyon is making a name for itself and for those that like the GMC brand, you won’t be disappointed.
A Choice of Engines to Choose From
One of the reasons the Canyon is a success is the choice of engines available for this vehicle. The smallest engine is a 2.9 liter I-4 that delivers a healthy 185 horsepower and decent fuel efficiency. Other engines include the 3.7 liter I-5 ( a five cylinder) that delivers 242 horsepower and a 5.3 liter V8 that offers lots more power with 300 horsepower. It should be noted that the largest engine (the 5.3 liter V8) is only available on the extended cab and crew cab body styles. Besides several engines, there is a choice between a four speed automatic transmission and a five speed automatic transmission.
Other features include plenty of safety features that are all standard, a pair of suspension choices which include the Z85 and Z71 off road suspension and interior amenities that make driving more comfortable. The sticker price for the 2009 GMC Canyon ranges from a very low $16,700 all the way up to about $30K making this vehicle definitely worth the look.
