If you are a 4×4 enthusiast, many of you are probably looking for a reliable pick up truck to haul your ATV’s dirtbikes, go carts, etc to the track or trail. While there are plenty of pick up trucks available, many are pretty high priced and way out of reach for most budgets. GMC, which is obviously known in the industry for making professional grade, practical vehicles has a compact pick up that is extremely budget friendly and offers lots of functionality. For those looking for a decent truck to haul your toys to the trail, you can’t go wrong with a 2009 GMC Canyon Regular Cab.
2009 GMC Canyon Regular Tech Specs
Obviously, the GMC Canyon Regular Cab is the smallest of the bunch. This model comes in a wide range of sizes including extra cab and super cab. However, this model does include 4 doors and a decent size bed. The bed for the regular cab is 6 feet which is good enough to haul most ATV’s and dirtbikes. It should be noted that the 2009 GMC Canyon Regular Cab is not a big puller or a beast, in fact, this baby comes with a 2.9 liter 4 cylinder engine that produces 185 horsepower- maybe not enough for most 4×4 enthusiasts. However, if you are looking for a very functional truck that gets great gas mileage, this vehicle definitely fits the bill. Expect about 24 mpg on the highway and 18 in the city.
A Couple Trims Available
There are a couple trims available for the 2009 GMC Canyon Regular Cab, the standard and the SLE. Both the standard trim comes with the option of either 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive, but they both consist of the same engine as stated above and same size bed. You will get a few extra creature comforts in the cab mostly on the SLE trim. As far as price is concerned the standard 2WD runs about $16K and the SLE 4WD tops out at about 21K.
