Curve Control System for 2011 Ford Explorer
June 30th, 2010 by Arman
Ford Explorer has never been known as a great SUV. Quality and design issues aside, it has never been a good 4×4. But apparently it’s all about to get changed with the new 2011 model.
Ford is really dedicated to make the new Explorer a real player in this segment, so they are packing it with high tech stuff such as Terrain Control, and now this, the Curve Control system.
According to Ford many accidents happen as a result of the driver misjudging corners and taking them too fast. It’s doubly dangerous in SUVs because of their higher profile. Now Curve Control’s duty is to minimize the risk of such crashes.
It is an evolution of the traditional ESP (Electric Stability Control) with more control. If this system senses any signs of rolling over or sniping, the computer steps in and reduces the amount of power that’s being sent to the wheel which is loosing traction. It can even apply the brakes to control the vehicle.

Curve Control is effective on dry or wet pavement, and is expected to be particularly useful when drivers are entering or exiting freeway on- or off-ramps with too much speed. When a vehicle enters a curve too fast, the system responds to the driver’s steering input by rapidly reducing torque and increasing brake pressure to help keep the vehicle under control.
The patent-pending system works by measuring how quickly the vehicle is turning and comparing that with how quickly the driver is trying to turn. When the vehicle is not turning as much as the driver is steering – also known as “pushing” – Curve Control activates. The system applies the precise amount of braking required on each wheel to enhance the individual wheel braking of the traditional stability control system.

June 21st, 2010 by Arman
As one of the best-selling pickup trucks in the North American market expectations are quite high from the new 2011 Toyota Tacoma.
So as always Toyota is acting clever and offering different models with different level of features to satisfy every taste and budget. This way they can sell the basic model of this sophisticated pickup for as low as $16,365.

That is the price of the Regular Cab 4×2 equipped with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission. A Tacoma Double Cab 4x4long bed with a 4.0-liter V6 and five-speed automatic is a more expensive at $27,525. June 17th, 2010 by Arman
The mighty Range Rover is getting an all-new powertrain for 2011 along with a couple of cosmetic and mechanical upgrades, so it can retain its position as the world’s most best luxury SUV.
This new engine is a 4.4 liter TDV8 diesel unit which replaces the old 3.6 liter, and has 313 hp and 700 Nm of torque. This engine really is in tune with the time with its average fuel consumption of 31 mpg.

The new model also gets a new ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox coming with a rotary dial instead of the traditional lever, and upgraded Terrian Response system with Hill Start Assist and Gradient Acceleration Control.

Wildcat 300 STR for the roads!
June 14th, 2010 by Arman
Those who are familiar by Wildcat off-roaders are probably surprised by the title of this post, but it’s true! British company Qt has created a road-legal version of the Wildcat racer and will soon put it on sale.
The original Wildcat by Bowler is a bonafide racing off-roader which can travel at incredible speeds over any kind of terrains.

And this road-going version does not seem to have lost any of that awesomeness. You still get a Rover V8 engine with plenty of power and 4-wheel-drive and heavy duty differential, but Qt has also added air condition, stereo and a place for your golf clubs!
The Wildcat 300 STR does 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, and while there are faster ways of doing that, there are quite a few just as exciting!
