Toyota Land Cruiser Sales Surge
December 23rd, 2010 by Arman
As Europe is getting covered almost entirely in snow, Toyota is enjoying very good days in UK as the sales of the Land Cruiser and Land Cruiser V8 are up 77 per cent and 120 per cent respectively over the same period from last year.
Land Cruiser owes a large part of its success to its image as a robust and capable 4×4, which is the result of 60 years of presence in the market.

In the UK, Land Cruiser is available in three grades, using a 3.0-litre D-4D diesel engine, 5-speed automatic transmission and provides user-friendly advanced technologies for handling, safety and driver guidance. This includes Multi-Terrain Select system, Crawl Control and Multi-Terrain Monitors. The Land Cruiser V8, uses Toyota’s most powerful diesel engine, a 4.5-litre D-4D providing 282bhp and 650Nm of torque, through a six-speed automatic transmission with sequential manual gear change.

Jeep Wrangler Named 4×4 of the Year
December 23rd, 2010 by Arman
The legendary Jeep Wrangler is still amongst the very best off-roaders today, in spite of being kinda overshadowed by all the computer-controlled high-riding luxury SUVs.
As a proof of its magnificence, specialist publication 4×4 Magazine, whose panel of expert judges put a four-door version of the US off-roader at the top of a list of extremely capable competitors, named it 4×4 of the Year in Extreme category.

With its ‘go anywhere and do anything’ approach, Wrangler offers a unique combination of world-class off-road driving, fun, everyday convenience and versatility.
“The modern Wrangler offers a cracking all-round package for the 4×4 buyer. The three-door version is best left to true hardcore individualists, but the way-more-practical five-door version is definitely worth a closer look,” says Hils Everitt, editor, 4×4 Magazine.

Mercedes Benz Actros V8 Fuel Economy
December 22nd, 2010 by Arman
Nobody really cares about big commercial trucks fuel economy, except Mercedes and that’s what makes them special!
The new Actros V8 featuring 510hp, 16-litre powerplant, which is mated to a 12-speed Mercedes PowerShift automated transmission, returns of almost 10.5mpg which is astonishing for this kind of vehicles.

The 4×2 Actros 1851’s mouth-watering specification includes an air-conditioned, flat-floored MegaSpace cab with fridge and microwave oven. Supplied by Wellingborough dealer Intercounty Truck & Van, the new 40-tonner is also a real head-turner, thanks to its Alcoa alloy wheels and twin light bars.
“We wanted a flagship to promote our new business and knew exactly how it should look,” said MFR Operations Director Dave Halliday. “But it also had to be cost-effective and reliable in operation. “And although we don’t have any other Mercedes-Benz trucks on the fleet, my past experience has proved to me that for this sort of job the Actros cannot be beaten.”
MFR Haulage, which operates from a depot in Bolnhurst, near Bedford, was formed earlier this year after parent company Mobile Freezer Rentals decided to expand its transport division. It relied previously on a fleet of rigid and articulated vehicles equipped with cranes to move its own freezer units, but has now diversified into chilled and frozen food transport, and even general haulage.
