3 Top 4×4 Accessories
December 15th, 2008 by Justin
If you or a friend owns a 4×4 Jeep, SUV or truck and you are looking for items that will definitely be used on the trail. Here are 3 accessories that are popular among 4×4 enthusiasts. Whether you are hitting the desert, a neighborhood trail, the mud bogs or rock crawling, these items can definitely help you out when in a bind or just to have much more fun when off roading.
High Lift Jack
A high lift jack is the perfect accessory for those that find themselves with a stuck tire. While a regular jack will gently raise the tire a few inches off the ground, these jacks can raise the tire a few feet off the ground. Perfect for 4×4’s stuck in a rock crack, a high lift jack will get you out without the need of towing. Just make sure you place the jack on something flat and sturdy- it’s a good idea to carry a flat piece of wood with you.
Tire Pump and Gauge
Whatever types of trails or surfaces you will be driving on, you can do a lot of good by either releasing or adding air to your tires. Tires can gain more traction with less air on the dirt and this is why it’s a good idea to carry a tire pump and gauge. The gauge is to ensure you release the right amount of air for each tire and the pump is to add air to your tires once ready to hit the normal road again.
CB Radio
When on an off road excursion, cellular phone service can be spotty, however CB radio is a great way to talk to your buddies and communicate with the outside world. Today’s CB radios are very easy to install and quite affordable.
