Aisle Types of Lift Trucks
December 1st, 2008 by Shenron
Besides fuel types, lift trucks can also be classified by the aisle size requirements that they operate within. There are three main types of aisle categories they include; wide aisle, narrow aisle and very narrow aisle. Here is some more information.
Wide Aisle Lift Trucks
Wide aisle lift trucks are usually lift trucks that require the maximum amount of space to operate within. Many wide aisle lift trucks require an aisle of over 11 feet wide.
Narrow Aisle Lift Trucks
Narrow aisle lift trucks- sometimes called NA require aisle widths between 8 and 10 feet wide. While wide aisle lift trucks come in sit and ride versions, narrow aisle versions generally are standing or Walkies.
Very Narrow Aisle (VNA)
Very narrow aisle trucks require the least amount of aisle width to operate and some can even operate with less than 6 feet of room. With extremely small aisle spaces, VNA lift trucks use rails, wire systems or optical systems to operate. VNA trucks that are common in industrial and commercial environments include Swing Masts, Turret Trucks and Order Selectors.
