Customize Your Truck for Style

For most truck lovers, there isn’t anything better than a great looking truck.  If you own a pick up truck or any other type of vehicle and want it to look unique, you can order custom truck or car wraps.

Here are a few more tips that can really set your vehicle apart from the rest of the trucks in your area.

Wheels and Tires
Just like car owners like to customize their vehicle for ultimate style, your truck can also easily look better with nice new tires and shiny customized rims.  Wheels are usually some of the easiest components to upgrade.  Many truck owners usually upgrade their tires to ones that are not only thicker, but also larger.  For instance, going from 18 inch to 20 inch wheels or larger is quite common.  It should be noted that if you are going with thicker wheels make sure that your tire wells are able to cover the width of the wheel, if not your vehicle can be illegal on the street or require wheel well extensions so that your tires do not kick up rocks and other debris on the road.

Fog Lights
Let’s face it, lighting can add style and functionality to your vehicle.  It is quite easy to add some fog lights to your vehicle or even off road lighting.  Whether you hit the trails or not, lighting is one way to enhance your pick up truck.  And the cost of most lighting is relatively affordable costing only a few hundred bucks.

Brush Guards
Brush guards are another way to add style and make you and your vehicle ready for the harshest off road trails.  These guards come in a wide variety of sizes and styles to fit your truck perfectly.  They not only protect your vehicle from tree branches and bushes, but are perfect for pushing objects out of your way.

Finally, you may consider car window tinting not just to improve your privacy but also to help cool down the temperature inside your vehicle.

The Jeep Patriot is Back

If you are looking for a smaller size SUV that offers nice styling and features, one of the vehicles that you may want to check out is the Jeep Patriot.  While still a Jeep, this vehicle is made for those that require on road functionality.  The Jeep Patriot fills in the brand on the small side, where Honda’s CRV, Toyota’s RAV 4 and other smaller size 4×4’s make their mark.

Under the Hood of the Jeep Patriot
The Jeep Patriot won’t wow you, but it does offer sensible power and functionality.  Under the hood of this vehicle you will find a smaller, but capable 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine that delivers 172 horsepower and torque in the mid 130’s.  This engine is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission as standard equipment and there are three drive trains available, a front two wheel drive configuration and two 4×4 configurations available.

The Interior of the Jeep Patriot
There is plenty for most to like in the interior of the Jeep Patriot.  The Patriot comes in two different trim levels.  The first is the base model- Sport and the second is the Limited which offers more amenities.  The Limited for instance offers 17 inch wheels, fog lights, chrome exterior accents, an optional GPS heated front seats, DVD entertainment system and more.  If you purchase the 4×4 package in honda riverdale, there is an option plan that comes with skid plates, low range ratio transmission, hill decent control and an extra inch of ground clearance.

While not the best Jeep available for off roading, the Patriot does offer some functionality for off roading, but it definitely is not a serious off roading contender.  The base price is in the high teens with more expensive trims and options pushing it easily into the mid 20’s. The Crossover Dodge Nitro

If you are looking for a vehicle that is not fully an SUV or a wagon, your best bet is a crossover.  Crossovers have been taking over the industry in recent years as larger SUV’s have fallen out of favor due to their size and fuel efficiency.  However, with some clever styling, you can get much of what you like from an SUV in a smaller, more affordable crossover vehicle.  The Dodge Nitro is one of these vehicles.  With a base that is close to $20K, this vehicle offers plenty for families looking for a practical and functional vehicle.

The Dodge Nitro offers 3 different trim levels.  They include the LX, SXT and SLT.  Surprisingly, the base prices for these levels don’t vary that much.  The 4 door SLT for instance comes with a V6 3.7 liter engine that delivers 210 horsepower and 235 ft lbs of torque.  This is matched to a 4 speed automatic transmission.

For those with families or that require a solid vehicle for commuting to work, you will be very pleased with the Dodge Nitro.  Not only does the Nitro offer plenty of space, but the vehicle is laid out nicely and the materials that are inside make the interior higher quality.  The dash is easy to view and nicely lighted and the entertainment console and climate control is easy to work and reach.

Fuel Efficiency
While the Dodge Nitro is not a large vehicle, the fuel efficiency is less than one would expect, but not too bad.  Expect to get about 19 mpg on the highway.  The base price is around the $20K mark for the lowest trim, but expect a fully loaded Nitro somewhere near $25K to $29K depending on the trim.

Mud Bogging with Your 4×4

If you are a 4×4 off road enthusiast, chances are you love playing in the mud.  Just like the old days when we were kids, we always looked for the biggest mud puddle to jump into and for many of us- nothing has changed except for the size of our toys.  If you have a 4×4 and enjoy off roading, you probably love to go mud bogging.  Mud bogging is simply going off road in the trails after a decent rain.

Mud Bogging with Your 4x4 mud bogging

Here are some tips from Kenny Habul Greenwich, CT to get the most out of your mud bogging experience.

Know the Trails to Mud Bog
Unfortunately mud bogging can lead to your vehicle getting swallowed up in the mud, so make sure you know the trails before setting out.  With plenty of mud, you might not know if the puddle you are about go into is 2 feet deep or 4 feet deep.  For many vehicles, anything over about 2 feet can mean you will need a buddy near by to tow you and your vehicle out.  If you are unsure just how deep the mud you are about to go into, bring a long stick.  Test the deepness before driving through the mud.  This will keep the towing to the bare minimum.

Have a Winch Ready
With mud bogging, the chances of getting bogged down are high, so make sure you ride with a buddy in a second vehicle and have your winches ready.  If you don’t have a winch, no big deal, just have a tow rope handy, Just make sure not to use any chains.  If the chain breaks you don’t want pieces of metal flying towards you and your vehicle- they are like projectiles that can do big damage.  And of course, once you get out of the mud, make sure you wash your vehicle down- even though your vehicle looks mean and muddy, sometimes there are corrosives in the mud that can do damage to your exterior.
