Body Lift Trucks

November 6th, 2008 by Shenron

The term body lift truck kit is usually used interchangeably with suspension kit, lift suspension truck, etc.

A body lift truck is a truck that has gone through a modification to raise the suspension. This raises the entire body from several inches to over a foot in height. Suspension lifts are done for numerous reasons, however the most common reason to modify your truck’s body with a body lift truck kit is to enable a steeper ascent, allow steeper descents, increase clearance, help accommodate larger tires (specifically made for off road purposes and for aesthetic reasons (a raised truck looks mean and intimidates easily).

It should be noted that body lift truck kits are usually only available from after market retailers. Each truck has a specific kit that fits it. Usually this depends on the type of drive train (2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive), drive shaft length, brake lines, steering concerns, etc. Some lift kits are specifically made for vehicles used only for off road purposes due to the legality of certain types of body lift truck kits. Body lift truck kits can cost from $1,000 for a basic kit to several thousand dollars for kits that are intricate and made specifically for competition.
