Ford F-Series Part VI - 1991 to 2004
July 12th, 2007 by shenron
Because of the reusing and the problems mentioned previously with the wheel wells and also because of new kinds of materials available and new modern looks the Ford F-Series was redesigned with a new front end made to be ever more streamlined along with having a large number of firsts. This ninth era lasted until around 1996 or 1997, and was one of the better developments made in the line, as it also had a CD player in 95 and a driver’s side air bag. This era was marked for being behind GMC for most of it, although the sales began to rise each year with over five hundred thousand sold in 92, and in 96 eight hundred thousand - letting ford overtake the Chevrolet/GMC truck lines combined by mid decade. This era had the same numbering as the previous, with the F-150, F-250, F-350, F-Super Duty, F-600, F-700, and F-800.
Following this the tenth era was born in 1997 and lasted until just a wee bit ago, ending in 2004. For yet again redesigned its truck with more updated features and designs, along with allocation of its manufacturing plants to new locations, allowing for more dedication to the truck lines. Ford took the new streamlined look and expanded on it, adding a rounder nose to the new Ford F-Series. The Ford F-Series F-250 had also become a F-150 plus better axles and upgraded suspension making it virtually the same body construction. Then Ford Motor Company dropped the F-250, F-250HD and F-350 for reasons not explained, then they offered the F-250 as the “7700″ package for the F-150. So now there was a huge array of body styles, confusing numbers, and convoluted stuff that’d make your head spin when thinking about the Ford F-Series. In the end the models were the F-150, the F-250, 250 Super Duty, 350 Super Duty, 450 Super Duty, 550 Super Duty, 650 Super Duty, and 750 Super Duty. Enough with the duty, we get it. They always have to add more words to things that should be simple…
