Spring Over Axle Lifts
November 15th, 2008 by Justin
If you are looking for extreme equipment to enjoy rock crawling and wild 4×4’ing, one of the best types of modifications you can do to your suspension is to add SPOA (spring over axle lifts). Spring over axle lifts are usually the most popular and the first choice for a lift kit with the rock crawling crowd.
The reason why these lifts are very popular is that you can gain the maximum amount of leverage when they are positioned above the axle. When you have spring right over the axle your traction is increased. You may have heard of up and down wheel travel, well this type of travel is maximized with spring over axle lifts. Another great benefit of having spring over axle lifts is that even with tough rock crawling or very steep climbs, having all four wheels firmly planted to the ground means less of a chance of tipping over. Now it becomes quite evident why these types of lift kits reign supreme with extreme 4×4 enthusiasts.
If you are an enthusiast that would like to have larger tires on your vehicle, having spring over axle lifts can be a great compliment to your vehicle and for those that want very large tires on their vehicle- it can also be a necessity. The reason being is that spring over axle lifts help get all of the vehicles engine and other main components out of the way so that you don’t damage them.
Finally, a great reason for almost anyone to get spring over axle lifts is that they are generally affordable and easy to install. Whether you are dedicated to rock crawling, constantly looking for steep embankments to climb or like to get extreme with your 4×4 vehicle, SPOA’s are perhaps the best choice for lift kits.
