The 2008 Dodge Nitro
September 15th, 2008 by Justin
The 2008 Dodge Nitro can be the perfect SUV for anyone looking for lots of power, occasional off road ability and a comfortable vehicle to haul stuff around. While perfect for suburbia, Dodge has made sure to give this SUV plenty of power to make it exciting to drive and functional. One of the reasons the Dodge Nitro has become quite popular is its reasonable price and variety of trims that make it perfect for many budgets and uses.

The Dodge Nitro comes with either 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive, a V6 4.0 liter in the Nitro RT trim or a smaller V6 3.7 liter engine in both the SXT and SLT models. The Dodge Nitro is a truly versatile SUV, perfect for those that want the ability to go off road or those that want convenience and comfort for the long commute. The Dodge Nitro is not the best at gas mileage, but compared to other vehicles in its class, it’s not inadequate to say the least. Expect to get about 20 to 22 mpg on the highway and about 14 to 16 mpg city driving.
For those looking for a manual only transmission, you will only find it on the less powerful SXT model, the SLT and the RT both come standard with automatic transmissions only. However, along with the automatic transmission, this vehicle does offer many high tech conveniences including Dodge’s Parksense rear park assist for backing out of a driveway or parking spot safely and a trailer sway control system perfect for hauling trailers safely. It should also be noted that the interior can be quite comfortable and there are plenty of options available including the now almost necessary navigation system, a choice of great stereo systems and comfortable seating for both driver and passengers.
