The Advantages and Disadvantages of Owning a Jeep
September 12th, 2008 by Justin
For more than 50 years, the Jeep has taken the world by storm. Many 4×4 enthusiasts that loves off roading whether hitting the bogs, rocky trails or desert dunes probably thinks about doing it in a Jeep. Jeep has always stood for quality and functionality and is able to go where most cars would never dare, but for those considering buying a Jeep, it should be known that while this is an incredible vehicle, it is not for everyone. Here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of owning a Jeep.

Some of the Advantages of Owning a Jeep
First off, we are talking about a Jeep Wrangler and not the more domesticated group of vehicles under the Jeep badge. Jeeps are incredibly useful and perfect for hitting the dirt trails. If you consider yourself and outdoorsy type of person, you will love the extra functionality a Jeep gives you. If you like a vehicle that is high off the ground, offers an easy way to lower the top (if you opt for soft top) and remove the doors, you will also love the Jeep.
These vehicles are perfect for adventure and freedom loving individuals. Another great advantage of owning a jeep is that it is perfect for all types of weather, sunny day on the beach, winter blizzard, rain and sleet- pretty much whatever mother nature throws your way, you can handle it in a Jeep. Finally, a Jeep has a great resale value, so whether you own it for a couple of years or more than a decade, it is not only fun to drive, but a great investment.
Some of the Disadvantages of Owning a Jeep
A Jeep is not the most comfortable vehicle, so if you bought one thinking you will hit the trails, but find yourself in long commutes, you will definitely not enjoy it. If you are the type of person that is worried about appearance having the top down and the doors off is usually not that good of an idea for an exec going to a business meeting. Jeeps are perfect for the lone wolf or an active couple. If you have kids or require a vehicle for hauling passengers around, a Jeep definitely is not the best choice.
