VW Amarok Pickup in Dakar Rally
January 9th, 2010 by Arman
VW has put its all-new Pickup truck, the Amarok under some serious real world tests long before they launch it into the market, by sending it to Dakar Rally as the official support vehicle.
A total of 35 Amaroks are being used by teams and Rally officials, playing a vital role in keeping this huge event going on smoothly. The cars have to deal with extremely rough terrains and tough weather condition during this 5,600 mile off-road rally.

“We are thrilled to put the new Amarok through its paces as part of this long distance challenge, the world’s toughest, before its official launch,” said Stephan Schaller, CEO of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
The Amarok is fitted with electronic differential lock (EDL) and Off-Road ABS as well as Hill Descent Assist, Hill Hold Assist and ESP plus system. All these stuff will be standard in the production model that you can buy in about eight month.
